May-Mid June '05 Pictures

At the beginning of the month the painting continued on the blue parapet. Later, the lift equipment was used to work on the exterior of the windows. White paint now protects the outside of the windows.

By mid May the drywall workers are shown cutting and placing the metal studs along the furthermost hallway that runs along the Zimmerman Building wall. This on the first floor, behind the former store fronts along Harding Way West.

On an upper floor that same hallway winds around a little to give the small front apartment its kitchen. (Floor Plan) The hall continues back to the Unit-D Apartment. On the other floor, the hallway ceiling is going up.

The sand is the large component of the cement layer that will level the floors of that same front apartment mentioned above. The special cement is mixed down here and pumped through the hose up to where it is needed.

The apartments added between the wings are identified as part of Unit-C. Left: the balcony exterior doors were being installed. Right: The third floor, North apartment in this section, gets the drywall panels finished up.

On the third floor of Unit-C the walls were being sprayed with primer in the big 3 bedroom apartment and a little later the kichen cabinets were in and ready for countertops. This apartment has a balcony, too.

The picture, at the left, is taken in the main hallway on the third floor looking West. It's starting to look pretty good even though the floor carpet and baseboards are not installed yet.

Note the temporary wall and door just beyond the arch. The pictures above were taken on the other side of that door. On this side, maximum effort is now being made to eleven apartments to allow people to move in.

The countertops go on and then the plumber puts in the sink and fixtures.   The window trim boards remind you of how thick those old brick exterion walls are.   The last indication of a doorway entrance in and out of the old Handle Bar.

Jack Shrode, Director of Construction Services for KG&R Development, has all of his workers assembled in the future Dining Room to review an inspection report just received. Teams will be assigned to go out to find and correct the problems.

Below: The electrician is wiring a first floor "EXIT" sign. Take a bucket of filler and fill up all the nail holes and dings. And the stairway handrails need to be sanded nice and smooth.

Below: A quick look at the variation of the kitchens and baths in these first 11 apartments. Part of the kitchen appliances are set in. Not to worry yet about the side the refrigerator handles are on. The microwaves are being mounted to the walls but, the dishwashers haven't arrived yet.

A Grand Opening is expected soon.
