October Progress Pictures of the Central Hotel Project
October Pictures

Looking from the opposite corner of the Public Square to the Central Hotel Apartments and the Quay Building.

The Public Square has always been a place for Galion's thrill seekers.
On the Left: the 2004 Oktoberfest rides were put up in the Square and down Market Street   Right: Sometime before 1876 a tightrope walker came to Galion. The Hotel is just to the right of the drug store. And.. there will be a bonfire tonight!

Scraping and applying a prime coat of paint way up high.   The parapet around the top will be repainted last.

Note the new colors of the adjoining Quay Building. The Hotel, too, will be sporting some new colors like many of the old buildings in Uptowne Galion.

The Lobby will look again much as it has in the past. It had a "Fireplace" on that far wall and it will be just like that original mantle piece -not hooked to a chimney.

The Finish Carpenters still have a lot of work to do at the end of October.

These pictures show that construction above the old kitchen and now go up the three stories to maximize the space needed for apartments.

This area is just behind the Main Hall along the center of the main Unit-A. Some apartments don't have their own Washer/Dryers and this will be a coin-op laundry location. Top: Our favorite Tuck Pointer and his work. Left: About the last old doorway left still remaining.

The pictures (row above) from here and below are at the far West end of the building. Left: The last look at an old window that had to be bricked in when they built the Zimmerman Building, (1874), to the West.

This is the last of the major floor repairs. It will soon look like the second floor shown at the right.

The D-Unit's metal studs have been going up during this last month. The picture at the right is showing the concrete base for the new elevator being poured in the basement. The elevator will be in the A-Unit, in its "a" section (see sketch below), at the intersection of the Main Hall and B-Unit's hall.
