November Progress Pictures of the Central Hotel Project
November Pictures

An annual event is the lighting of the tree up on the Square. It actually occurred on 12-04-04 this year, but it wouldn't be the same including it in the December progress a month from now.

At mid month the weather was letting the high painter start on the parapet with the primer coat. By the end of the month not much could be done.

Here is the paint scheme the painters are to follow. Click on either picture to go to larger views.

A sample of the first five kitchens at the end of November.

The interior painting moves along as the apartments get their furnaces turned on. The wainscot was added and being painted at the end of the month.

Third floor West end.   Main Hall.   Third floor East end.
The Main Halls, parallel to Harding Way West, along with the old Lobby and the Exterior of the Building were required to be preserved as they were to keep the Historical appearance or ambiance of the old Central Hotel.

As the construction continues the old historic walls are starting to disappear behind the drywalls. Left: The wall abutting the old Zimmerman Building at the West end. Center and Right: One is a case of needing a passage through the thick brick wall and the other was one where they didn't want one.

Removing the wall between Unit-C and
Unit-A, third floor.
Remember that falling wall from last spring?
It's back!
One of the areas that fell and part of the "hole". The wall at the end will be taken out and tie the second floor Unit-A to Unit-C. Foreground: A welcome place to warm up.

Top: Behind the "caution" tape is where the elevator shaft will soon be added. Bottom: The panel at the right was leading to the old hallway that fell.
Right: That repaired big hole in the roof will soon be behind the drywall and forgotten about. A last look.

Another new floor viewed from the rear of the old Bar.By months end a new wall closed in at the far end. Everything will be closed up to keep the cold out.   A first floor passage way between the old store fronts.   This view looks into the new section Unit-D from the western most store front in Unit-A. Unit-D will be finished much quicker due to the more conventional construction and without the build in problems.

Unit-C's third floor on the left is further along than the second floor -as shown on the right.

This view as taken early in the month was quickly covered. But it shows the inside of the "Light Well" and the back   side of the apartments bridging the space between Unit-B and Unit-C. Above: The inside is being wired as fast as the metal studs are put up.   Placing the insulation on the outside walls in
Unit-D.
