Up on C-Unit, the remaining roof sheeting was being removed. The roofing had been allowed to deteriorate and cause extensive damage to that wing.   The C-Unit's roof is almost ready for new sheeting.
 
 
Activity is on the flooring and trash cleanup at first. C-Unit's first floor was discovered to have a floor over a floor. Note the "border" about two feet up around the wall   A few days later the top of C-Unit was covered. Here a roofer is stepping over his safety line.
 
 
Load after load of debris is piled high and put in the containers for disposal to prepare the site for new construction.
 
 
The floor of the old bar area is cleaned up and starting to get new sheeting.
 		   And right behind the old bar, the former kitchen area's floor has also been stripped of old flooring.
   
  This is the basement under the old dining room where the primative masonry walls and the modern laminated beams will coexist to make this project feasible.   In the basement of the B-Unit, new beams are also going in under the former banquet room.
 		  
 
This area is also a good dry place to temporarily store some materials that will be reused.   In a room toward the front, these holes are thought to be where the coal was fed to the boilers.
 
   
Pictured at the left is "The Hole" as viewed from the third floor. The center picture has the bridge, to span the chasm, being finished. The guard rails are next. This is the only way to get to the west side of the building and to the two pictures below.
On the right, the icicled doorway with transom is on the opposite side of the bridge.		  
   
Jack Shrode, construction boss, is giving instructions for the room at the right.   There are four rooms in this area with an unwanted "view". The weather damage took the wall out last year before the preservation efforts began.   The third floor is gone. Same with the second floor and the first is probably under all of that in the basement. That's a bathroom sink down in there.
 
   
  This Unit-C to Unit-A wall can't be seen from the ground. The picture was taken from a room on the B-Unit third floor.   The picture to the left is up and around the corner of the C-Unit.
 		  
   
2nd floor hallway is fenced off at the "Hole".   Down the hallway joining B to A. The windows are on HWW.   The adjoining rooms from January revisited.
 
 
Room 201. The third floor room that Alexander Graham Bell used for his demonstration so long ago.
It's on the top floor and at the corner of Harding Way and Public Square.
 
   
This wall has to come down in order to get access into the center of the A-Unit. Debris can be removed from "The Hole" and new materals hoisted up. An Atrium really wasn't planned for the new apartment complex even though there was already a good start caused by the damage from that hole in the roof.
