November Progress Pictures of the Central Hotel Project
December Pictures

How nice to see all the lights on at the old hotel after years of darkness. This great picture was
taken by Steve Kinstle on 12-22-04.

14" of snow was too much to just take into stride for Uptowne Galion.

Note the colorful paint on the buildings. It's not just these in the South East corner of the Square, but All through the Uptowne area. Good News! The Zimmerman Building, attached to the old hotel, has been purchased by the hotel developer and will also have new apartments above. The two store fronts below will remain. Thus the other building in disrepair is being saved.

Thirty Apartments and the Fire Sprinkler System need a big water line.

Above:The main stair well from the Lobby at mid month. Below: the same stairway, with its mid level landing, at the 2nd floor level. Stairs to the 3rd floor are down the Hallway at the left.   Stored away, down in the basement, is the original main stairs spindled banister. It's time to pull it out.

Above:The view from the two bedroom apartment that was once the old Dining Room. Below: Installing the ceiling drywall in the same apartment.   Not only the railing, but the original stair step wood was saved and is being put back.

From the rear of the former Handle Bar room. The 1st floor elevator access is at the right.   The elevator shaft
on the 2nd floor.
Starting the drywall to make an apartment out of the old Bar.

The Stairway banister from long ago will still be there in the lobby.

Top: 2nd floor Main Hallway at mid month.   Bottom: Cutting pieces of steel drywall framing to length.   Details at the Main Hallway 2nd floor transition between the old buildings.

Half bath   Full bath   Kitchen (one side)   Siding inside the light well.
Five Apartments have been pushed to be finished first. They are the ones in the B-Unit. They are shooting for 20 to be done by March 1st, 2005.   The floor will have skylights over the dining area.

Two more apartments, 2nd and 3rd floor corner, are at the ceiling texture stage.   At the end of the month the Carpet men were finishing the first five apartments and the downstairs Lobby.

The merging new look from the alley at the rear. The tall buildings from the left are the new Unit-D, old Unit-C and old Unit-B with a new 2nd and 3rd floor addition added at the back. The new construction will be vinyl sided. The parking for the apartments should be better now that the adjoining Zimmerman Building has been added by the developer.
