Materials from the old walls between the hotel rooms in B-Unit are being removed.   Another arm load is taken over to the window and slid down to the dumpsters below.   The plaster and lath is being cleaned up off the floor while the plumber is figuring where the pipes are to be located.

 
A few days later the floor is cleaned up and ready to get new floor boards.   The floors in the B and C units are getting most of the attention now to get them ready for the new fire retardant topping
 
   
New Main Staircase is roughed-in.   The Carpenters are working at the second floor landing. There is a mid level landing, (foreground), just as in the old hotel.   Doubt if you will recognize it, but here is the old Rose Room just around the corner and down the front hall.
   
The restoration calls for all the bad bricks on the exterior to be replaced. Not to worry about the walls collapsing. The wall is three bricks wide.
 
  Inside, they are working up on the third floor of the C-Unit. A mixture of cement and gypsum is pumped up from the mixer out back and will level out and fireproof the flooring. The thin mix is prevented from leaking through cracks with the black tar paper. Gypsum is also in drywall sheets.

The first and second floor of B-unit is already down and curing out. The carpet and tile will be intalled on top of this in the finished apartment.

The Cured topping sets up quickly. Above: The new floor is shown in the former 1st floor banquet room. The plumbers (inset) are using the floor to spread their drawings and plan the next work.

Meanwhile, The Glazier is busy at work down in the basement.   All the windows that were still salvageable from the old hotel are being refinished and reglazed ready to go back.
 

   
Looking from the inside before the front of the old Cookies was boarded up.   Can anyone verify or help on these dates?
The hotel built over the property line and now has a shared wall with the Zimmerman Building.		   When the Central House was a two story. The Zimmerman Building on the alley was not there at that time. A Galion Historical Society Photo.
